Carrabelle area 4/28

Post by bbb »

Hit the water at 8:30 and ran behind Dog Island for bait. Pinfish were a little thin, but caught about 25 and headed out 9 miles.

Lots of boats out in the 6-10 mile range.

Dropped a couple rods down with live pinfish and put cut bait on the other 2 rods. The cut bait started producing grunts and as I threw them back, my buddy said “what the heck, I wanna do a fish fry”. So we sat and caught a box of grunts with only a flounder to show for the live pins. We moved a couple times but no love from the grouper.

Went to the last spot and caught a 19” red grouper and had a good one hit and take line but came loose. We then flatlined a live pin on wire and had 4 bites within 2 minutes of the bait hitting the water each time. Boated 2 kings and ran to the hill at 3pm.

We gave the fish to a 3rd party and said he could keep half if he cleaned all of them.

We’ll see how that works out.

We were in 40’-45’ of water.

Yes. Flaky white flesh
They're just smallish for cleaning.
