Re: Flounder Report
Just curious -- how do y'all make sure the flounder is 14" before you hit 'em with the gig? Seems like throwing back a gigged flounder would just be feeding the crabs.
Re: Flounder Report
Lots of practice, look for the v in the back where to two loins come together. If they don’t have that defined dip there’s a good chance it’s a short. If wading use your foot for a reference.geofish wrote:Just curious -- how do y'all make sure the flounder is 14" before you hit 'em with the gig? My gig was 6” across so it was easy to figure it out. Most of the “barely” legal ones were always 13”. The 13” fish only made up 5-10% of the catch. Most fish were 15-16”.geofish wrote:Just curious -- how do y'all make sure the flounder is 14" before you hit 'em with the gig?
