I was under the impression that he cut down the skeg so it didn't add length. If so, not sure it would fit on a factory foot.
Would be interested to know if this is correct.

He has made 4 rock guards for me on 4 different boats and never cut any off.

Porter’s rock guard is a reinforcement of the skeg and he doesn’t remove any parts of the skeg by shortening the length.

No worries, if you were to look at the guard it could appear that’s how it would be done. The bottom point of the skeg is covered with the guard so it wasn’t a bad observation.
