It’s not raining everyday… but when it does, it’s a lot. The wind on the other hand.. here to stay. Water temperatures are reaching that seventy degree mark, though visibility leaves more to be desired; though it has caused the water to warm up quicker. There are pockets of clarity away from the tannic fresh water dumping from the rivers. It’s a love hate relationship with the tannins; but they do stain our fish on the big bend a beautiful gold/copper.
Wind has been a non stop factor of late. Usually the spring winds have been reserved for February going into March. But Mother Nature has her own way of doing things. My best advice is to learn to embrace the suck and accept the chop. Try using the wind to your advantage, keeping it at your back.

Redfish bite has been decent, not on fire but consistent. Some decent fish are getting tricked and released. Soon these fish with start to find their shallow back country slews and creeks for the warm season.

Trout are fattening up for their Spring spawn with the full moon approaching. Over slot trout are being caught full of roe, “the future of their species”. Reminder in showing stewardship with the proper handling/releasing of these great fish. (Making sure hands are wet if you’re having to make physical contact with trout, goes a long way with their recovery from the “yeets” and “heck yeahs” during picture time.)

Flounder are being caught more regularly with water temps warming flounder will show up around oyster bars and sandy ledges where water flow is prevent. Slow your bait down and be attentive for that light tap that is the flounder bite.
Sheepshead are around and close to ending their spawn season as well.

Wishing everyone a safe time on the water and the best of luck.
