Aucilla is on fire!

Post by dombern34 »

Couple of buddies and myself went down saturday around noon. water was low so we idled out and fished along the way. it's wild how the fishing is right now! we went over to pinhook once we had some water and if we were keeping fish- i would say we had a 3 man limit in about 20 minutes or so, the Trout are healthy and fat! they came off Plastics and Mirrodine's. A lot of people are trolling in the river for them but that style of fishing isn't my cup of tea lol. yall go get em'

I still maintain that they need to close (or severely limit) trout in our area from December through February every year. Way too many fish hauled home these 3 months. We all hear of folks catching multiple limits and hauling them back to the dock when the fish are basically stranded in the river. Ever wonder why the fishing is off the hook in December and not good by the end of January? Maybe most of the keepers (breeders) already got a ride home in a cooler. The trout fishing would be much better the rest of the year and the overall population would be strong.

I know.....not the right group for this idea. Sorry.

i agree- i'm not a fish keeper myself but, i also understand the ones who do keep them. i just don't. i see that they've changed the size regulations so maybe it's a start. if you're into just having your line stretched, now is the time to get down there.
