The tides of Wraeclast are shifting rapidly. In Path of Exile 2, we've witnessed not only new monsters and abilities, but also significant shifts in survival strategies. This shift will be crucial for PoE 2 Currency management, as investing in high-end evasion gear will likely become increasingly dependent on the creation and optimization of PoE 2's exclusive currency.
For years, Perk has been a key skill for characters striving for high evasion, granting a 30% evasion chance at the expense of halving energy shield and armor from all sources. This was a clear and often painful trade-off that led to distinct character types: pure evasion/dodge builds, while other builds couldn't withstand this penalty. The removal of Perk heralds a new era for evasion builds.
First and foremost, this change could be a significant benefit for characters focused on evasion. Players no longer need to allocate precious passive points to specific keystones to gain access to crucial evasion components. This means that Dodge, as a core mechanic, now provides some form of evasion, or a more comprehensive defense against incoming attacks.
This streamlined mechanic allows players to more freely invest in additional damage or utility nodes, or increase Dodge rating, without incurring explicit shield/energy armor penalties. Gear selection will prioritize high Dodge rolls, potentially increasing demand for PoE 2's dedicated currency, used to craft high-end Dodge gear.
However, the most significant impact will be on hybrid characters. Characters who previously relied on Acrobatics for a quick boost in survivability, even when combined with a moderate amount of Shields or Energy Armor, will now have to completely rethink their defensive strategies. "Easy" Dodge, even with its drawbacks, is no longer viable.
This change will make it more difficult to equip multiple layers of powerful defensive gear, leading players to choose more specialized defensive characters. Can Dodge/Energy Shield characters still survive without the equivalent Dodge provided by Acrobatics? Or will they need to focus entirely on one or the other?
This could indicate that dodging not only helps avoid hits but also reduces the damage taken by hits, or that its "dodge" component is more directly tied to Dodge Rating. Therefore, players may want to carefully consider their u4gm PoE 2 Currency spending when upgrading their gear to maximize survivability and combat effectiveness.
