There have been lots of comments elsewhere on the Internet Fishing Forums, of the possible route of this Storm/Hurricane.

One possibility is landfall between Mississippi and Apalachicola.

When was the last time a Hurricane severely affected the Florida Panhandle/Big Bend area ?

I have tried to view the Hurricane archives and I can,t find any record of this area being severely affected before.

Opal in 1995 that hit Pensacola and Elena and Kate that we had back in 1985. Kate was only a Category 2 but did major damage inland especially in Tallahassee. We were without power for over a week. I still remember that storm as though it were yesterday.

Thanks Tom and Jere,
We have only had one Hurricane in the UK.

I lost some trees and a lot of tiles off my roof (having 18 inch solid brick walls is useful), but houses in the next village had their end walls sucked out.
The local woods have only recovered in recent years.

What it did do, was make people more nervous of high winds and gales.
Something we had not bothered much about before.

Can anyone direct me to the websites where these Hurricanes are mentioned ?
