While so close...we went on down to Spring Creek. Haven't been there in over 20 years. Just like I remembered it...except more development.
Water temp was 67 degrees at the landing. Couldn't believe it. Made it out to the beginning of the flats....temp was 47 degrees. Those springs sure made a heap of difference.
Went on to catch 8 reds and 5 trout. All too short. Man at the landing said, "you'll sure ought to have been here 2-3 days ago.. they were tearing it up then. Not much going on now." We proved it. Saw several boats up and down the river. Talked to 2 of them. Not a bite. One was using live shrimp....one was using jigs..
We caught ours on jigs...yellow and red tipped. Got one on a catch 2000...a trout that was 14 9/10 in long. Don't know where we were...just in the river...near an oyster bar...around pole 31-32.
The place is beautiful...fish...keepers...just didn't bite.
It was a great day to be on the water after a week of Christmas... even if we didn't score.
