Boat Check up

Post by Frank »

Just came off my first year of bay fishing in Florida and have really appreciated the info from everyone on this listserv. I live in Tallahassee and need to get my boat in for annual service for the upcoming season. Any suggestions for someone who services outboards that is honest, reliable, and reasonably priced? I usually trailer on down to St. Marks or Carrabelle, so I'm willing to drive for good service.

Thanks for your help!

What brand motor?

Yamaha - Pete at Sunshine or Porter Marine

Mercury - Gus at "The Shop"

Johnson/Evinrude - Porter Marine
What was I supposed to do today?

Porter Marine does Yamaha also. I've used Porter and Sunshine and both are good.

My suggestion would be to take it in as soon as possible. It's about to be BUSY.

Frank, give Wavel Porter a call at (850) 421-1490 and get directions. His place is on the west side of downtown Woodville. Don't be alarmed when you see the place. It's a home operation. But, he's the best around.

Frank-

Wavel is a little hard to find on the first trip. Be sure to write his directions down. Woodville seems small but it's kind of tricky to find his shop on the first try. In this map, he is down Eglin road, on the left hand side of Eglin...what the map dosen't show is that you have to turn on to Katydid first to get on Eglin. If you get lost like I did, you can ask one of the locals and everyone knows where his shop is located.....

This maplink might help you some...
