Can a long shaft motor be changed to a short shaft?

Ok, so a jackplate with trim and tilt would cost what?
Verses buying some used parts if I could find them. What parts exactly?
Wevans would that T&T thing you have jackplate it too?
Also the boat is a alumacraft allwelded 1542 John. I was told by the local dealer that it could hold a 40hp, though it is rated for a 25. But they sell the same boat rigged out as a bass boat and rate it for a 40hp.
I am thinking about rigging a center console with 40 hp. It's just that I need a SS motor, and the 40hp Nissan I have is a LS.

If I was gonna use the setup described, I would buy "or build" a non adjustable jack plate "around $110 if ya buy one. And no T&T is also a jackplate

“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.”

Yep, but with a jackplate and a T&T added on to the motor you'll need to raise it another 2 or more inches to run right
"the further you take the prop from the boat, the higher you can raise the motor"

Now knowing a little better what you're trying to do, if you put a T&T unit on a jack plate, you'll wind up with somewhere between 8" amd 12" of offset. Plus the motor will be mounted at least 5" above the transom, probably more. That would be a lot of torque on an aluminum transom. You might consider having a double plate made that would slide over the transom, rather than a jack plate that would offset the motor. That would reduce your offset to 6" with the T&T unit.
What was I supposed to do today?
Exactly what I was thinking about the double jackplate.
Don't know if all that would be less than buying some parts and converting to a short shaft.
Will check on that monday.
Boy....that would be one fast bullet boat with a 40hp!
