Tarpon from a kayak?

Post by Littoral »

Because they're there.
Lots of us kayakers have threatened to fish together & I'm sure we really want to, it's just hard sometimes to coordinate.
Perhaps a theme will help.
Who wants to catch a Tarpon from their kayak?
I'm dumb enough to try but not dumb enough to do it by myself.
It will take a concerted effort to go often enough but we can do it. They've got a lot of it figured out on the FL West coast at paddle.net.
Here's a link to one of their articles about how to, and how not to:

Don't mean to butt in where I don't have a dog in the fight, but just in case any one would be interested there is going to be a seminar per the latest post from Jerrys Bait and Tackle.

TARPON FISHING IN APALACHEE BAY,
by Capt. Jody Campbell • Coming up on May 12th
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

Tarpon

Think I may have to build a set of outriggers before I attempt to tackle one of those big critters.

Just look at the fish in the very bottom picture below, it looks bigger than the guy, in the pic anyway...

You can definitely count me in on this. I have a tarpon to add to my list to catch from my kayak now. Cobia and king mackeral are already on the list.
