Planned to take the family out Saturday before the storm, however the boat trailer gods had a different idea with a blown tire that caused fender damage and took the better part of the morning to fix.
Not to let the boat trailer ruin the whole weekend, looked at the weather and saw that the rain was to move out by 7:30 to 8:00 on Sunday so we loaded back up and headed down again.
Launched at the Lighthouse about 7:00, in light rain and headed toward Greymare. We were expecting some clearing soon. The clearing didn,t show up until about 1:00, but the trout were there the whole time. We caught numerous shorts and kept 10 nice trout (16" to 19.5") and 1 Spanish.
All were caught in 4 to 6 feet of water with CT's and grubs. The "Space Guppy" color seemed to work best during the rain while they changed to "Electric Chicken" once the weather broke.
While the action wasn't as fast as last weekend, it was still steady. I feel that if the weather had broken as early as it was forecast to, the action would have picked up even more. That is by the time the weather broke, the tide had turned.
In all, my wife, my two boys (6 & 9) and I had a wonderful trip. Ran into "Finding Nemo" in his Kayak on the way in, he said he didn't catch much, but just fishing in that thing looked fun.
Hope to meet some more of you guys next trip.
