Wakulla Beach wade fishing 5/07

Post by dave7 »

Great morning down at Wakulla Beach! Got down there around 7:30 after stopping and trying the $2.00 breakfast at Wakulla. My first time stopping there and my Dad, brother and I enjoyed it. Highly recommend it. Got there 'bout 30 minutes before low tide and fished just until noon. Caught 3 shorts and 2 keepers. Fishing seemed to improve as the water started to move back through the bars and up the creek. All caught on bright pink DOAs under CT's. Fish didn't seem interested in topwaters or jigs. A couple other guys who showed up to fish the bar tried using live shrimp with little success. Plenty of other folks out fishing by the time we left.

.... Still searching for the elusive redfish that are supposed to be in there

wevans: Yeah...figures we'd leave just before the action picked up.

I'm gathering that it's generally a better bite on a rising tide? I guess because the incoming water is bringing baitfish up into the creek mouths.
