Post by Tom Keels »

On the Oar Wakulla reef? Cuz I found 2 but only brought back 1. Very nice penn senator 4/0 on a gold cup reel. There is something special about the rod to identify it if someone wants it.

Oh yeah, we found these as well...

Don't think so. This one has only been down a week, maybe 2.

I think that must be the rod I lost trying to haul in one of them AJacks... the identifying marks are - it has six of them roundy loopey looking things that the cord goes thru to get from the real to the fish. Uh, that's it ain't it Big T??

Nope he didn't, not really. I was on my safety stop at 20' and had a school of about 100 AJ's circling me. I had 500 lbs of air left and only a freeshaft loaded. I said to myself "what the hell" and picked out one and shot him. Made a perfect shot above and behind the eye and he never even twiched. He and the shaft just started sinking so I had to go get it. Got it and headed back to the surface to finish my stop. After I got to the surface I accidently dropped the shaft and the AJ and had to basically do a freedive almost back down to the bottom to retrieve it and had to book it back to the surface and fill my bc. I had about 150 lbs of gas left when I got to the boat. Used that up (40% nitrox) after I got on the boat fighting off a CO2 headache.
