Went fishing yesterday....nothing special except that I got to take an 81 year old true Gentleman with his Son and Grand daughter for an outing.

We launched at 7am from the Fort and I ran Scott, Carl, and Taylor (the good look’n one!) out to around the bird rack. The conditions early were pretty windy with the wind being out of the North West.

Carl caught a short trout on the very first cast as he was showing Taylor how to work a Cajun Thunder. There was some additional activity but the windy conditions were creating a problem so I decided to run to Patty’s Island to see if we could get into a more sheltered area. Running into the wind I had to go pretty slow to keep from drown’n the crew but we finally managed to get to Patty’s. It was considerably calmer and the fish seem to cooperate.

Wind died down about 10 or 10:30...ran back out to the bird rack and then called it a day. Caught 4 nice trout 2 over 18... only caught 4 or 5 shorts (fewest percentage of shorts to keepers in a long time) 2 sail cats (one kept) and one hard head. Had one shark bite on a live pin. Caught everything on CT’s with either space guppy grub or white with a pink fire tail and generally in 4-6 ft of water. Back on the trailer at 1pm. Grandpa Vinson had been advised by his doctor to watch the amount of sun he got and to not get too hot. I had the top up but it was still pretty warm! It’s my understanding that there was fried fish last night at the Vinson residence.
