CAJUN ANCHOR

I promised a while back, ( I think I did) that I'd write a report on the CAJUN ANCHOR If I ever made my own, which I did.

I made mine from a piece of 6' long stainless steel, anout 3/4" in diamiter.
Drilled a hole about 3/4" from one end and bought a stainless shackle. I spliced the line to is using a chafing sleeve to keep the rope in good shape. You could us a piece of old garden hose as well. I ground a point on the other end about like the end of a cigar, rounded but not too pointy.

It works great. Weekend befroe last when the wind was up while night fishing the anchor held my 24 ft. pomtoon boat like a champ.

Total cost, $33.00.....now a hint or two if you decide to make one.
As soon as you drop the anchor it's in the sand/mud and holding fast. If you set your boat downwind and drop it off the bow it wont have to turn, you'll already be behind the anchor.

I have used it as deep as 10 ft. and it's about like pulling up an anchor weighing forty pounds. No mud, no weeds, no noise, and if you get over a hole you don't have to back up with lots of anchor rhode let out.

They retail got about $79.00 if you don't want to make it yourself. It's worth the effort. I used it with my JON Boat too, and since you're tied about a foot or two from the anchor landing a fdish is better because there is nor rope in the water.

Saturday and Sunday produced some fine trout around Shell point area. It seems the big trout were in abundance..we caught a bunch.

I use mine routinely around creek mouths since it's so easy to stake out
(except on rock and oyster bars) instead of working electric motor
so much.

My suggestion is to get or make 6' model regardless of your boat length.

My only problem is screw sometimes shakes loose in rough water.
I store mine in horizontal rod rack and keep it tied to front cleat for
use. Good advice to start downcurrent of insertion.
