Jacksonville Kayak Fishing Classic

Post by KayakMike »

Get registered now for the Jacksonville Kayak Fishing Classic, on October 14-15! See the tournament page at http://www.jaxkayakfishing.com/tournament.html for more information, rules, entry forms, and registration.

The tournament promotes kayak fishing in Jacksonville with a fun and competitive format. The event raises funds for Jacksonville Children’s Charities with the help of local retailers and national sponsors. Over 100 paddlers are already registered.

Kayak anglers will be targeting Redfish, Trout, and Flounder in a catch-photo-release format for over $25,000 in prizes and gifts. The captain’s meeting is October 14th at Strike-Zone Fishing Center, and the check-in, awards ceremonies, and BBQ is October 15th at Angie’s Subs in Jacksonville Beach. Entry fee is $50 ($60 after September 1st), which includes a captain’s bag (first 150 entrants only), rights to fish, entry into the tournament raffle, and BBQ.

Trophies, kayaks, fishing gear, and gift certificates are awarded for 1st through 4th place in four open divisions and two fly classes -- the Malibu Kayaks Slam, the Strike-Zone Fishing Biggest Redfish, the Dick’s Sporting Goods Biggest Trout, the BlackCreek Outfitters Biggest Flounder, the Salty Feather Biggest Redfish-on-fly, and the Black Fly Outfitter Biggest Trout-on-fly. There is also a Strike-Zone Fishing Mystery Fish prize, a raffle for the Best Dang Tackle Box, and a general raffle that includes over $10,000 worth of kayaks, equipment, and tackle.

The tournament is co-sponsored by many of Jacksonville's fine kayak and fishing retailers, including Ft. George Island Surf Shop, All Wet Sports, Thrifty Outdoors, and Army Navy Outdoors. Many prominent national brands such as Temple Fork Outfitters, Berkley, Mirrolure, Costa Del Mar, Rising Fish, Tsunami, MegaBait, Lowrance, and DOA Lures are also major sponsors. The Outdoors Show, Fishing Connection, Onshore-Offshore Magazine, Florida Sportsman Magazine, Kayak Fisherman Magazine, and Great Atlantic Outfitters are promoting and advertising the event.

Kayak fisherman can register for the tournament online at http://www.JaxKayakFishing.com, or pick up an entry form at any of the tournament sponsors’ locations. More information and complete rules are also available online.
