Headed out in the predawn hours, had to put the nav lights on. Wind 10k out of the NW, water temp 85d. Seas 2', kinda a nasty close chop. Went to the bait spot and caught a dozen runners or so, and went to one of my 55' spots. One very nice gag right away on an LY, then nothing. Worked my way in to my 45' numbers, and I do believe the red tide has totally wiped these spots out. Plenty of bottom showing, but NO fish, of any kind. Couldn't even sell squid on four spots, even drifting. Only a few dead fish seen, no nasal irritation. The most recent sampling report showed low concentrations at most inshore sites, but still too much to open the bay back up for oysters.
Lotsa small bait pods in 35' with macks and bonita having their way. Inshore, fishing was reported to be VERY good, with reds, trout, and cobia caught by guys at the ramp (and I saw the fish). Was at the ramp by 12, and left my boat at Carrabelle, a new deal for me.
Luck,
EJ
