We figured it was going to be hot as hell today ,but decided to go anyway.

Got there about 7:40 and it was drizzling rain and overcast, I thought great at least we won't be hot. Got out the mouth no problem on plane, punched in the spot I had the topwater hits last week and headed out. All is going well the water is just under three feet then BAM!!!

I hit my first rock ever!

It took quite a chunk out of my skeg so I'll call it Skeg Rock. The coordinates are N30'01.581 by W83'56.946. So I curse a little and off we go again. Get to the spot in 3' it's stained ,choppy , and 80 degrees. I start off with a rattling minnow bait with no luck. So I tie on a Mirrorlure propbait and cast out. Rip rip BAM, fish on, my first ever topwater trout. Two casts later annother one, this time an 18' keeper. Man I'm hooked, after I boat 4 fish my buddy finally listens to me and ties on a devilhorse. 2 casts later his first ever trout on topwater.

We never left that area which is a small 500' group of GPS #'s all 3-5' deep. We would just keep doing different angled drifts as the tides and wind changed. The water stayed from 80-83 degrees and lightly stained. We used jigs under thunders, topwater, cut bait(1 fish) and staight jigs. We caught 8 from 15.25-19 and 2 borderline that we through back and around 20-25 shorts. Also only 1 cat(jig) and a 30" ladyfish(topwater) What a blast! And I caught my last trout on topwater at 11:00!

I also had a pesky gull that kept pickin up my lure off the water, that was funny to watch.
