St. Marks Madness!!! 9/18
Left the light house around 8:30 Sunday morning. Low tide was around 9:00am and High tide was around 3:30pm. Headed to the garden first, no luck there. We headed south for deeper water and began a drift. We had a guy with us that had never been saltwater fishing before. Needless to say he was HOOKED! During our drift we noticed birds diving and thrashing water not far away so we boogied on over and with Catch 2000's, Gold and Silver spoons and Gotcha lures began to slay the mess out of the Blues, Lady fish, hard tales??? (i think) and THE SPANISH!!! BIG SPANISH!! As you looked around the boat you could see clumps of thrashing water with Spanish and others jumping. I am terrible at gaging yardage but it must have been at least an area of about 3 to 4 football fields. I had never seen anything like that before. They were every where! We boated a fish with every cast! We were getting cut off quite often as well. Sometime four feet from the lure. ??? I'm gonna have to re-stock my tackle. The action went on from about 10am to 2:30pm when we had to peel ourselves away. It's so hard to leave when the fish are biting. Ended up only keeping 20 Spanish (threw back a ton), and 2 Big Trout. I think we have made a believer of our saltwater greenhorn! Oh water depth.... ummm maybe around 6 feet or so. Beautiful day!

Nope! No chrome swiveles. I was using Power Pro braded line. 30 lbs test. Just tied straight on to the lures. Got two of my lures back though!!!
I guess they spit'em. I wish I knew what those other little fighters were. They looked like a Jack, but I don't think they were the right color. They fought as hard as the Spanish! Maybe FWCC has them on their Fish ID web site.
