another yamaha starting issue
bought 40hp 2-stroke last spring ran great but after sitting during monsoon season tried in driveway first starter would click not turn then worked so ran engine tried again few days nothing battery good might now have blown fuse but triggered how?
I had a simular problem with the 30 horse. Mine turned out to be a broke wire. Yours sounds more like a starter solenoid. Jump across the solenoid and see if it works. If it does, Using a test light, have someone turn the key and check if the big red wire from the solenoid to the starter gets power.
What was I supposed to do today?

Hey - you're up early today Wevans! Our friend eat_mo_crawfish (AKA the big Cajun) is having a life changing experience. His parents house in New Orleans was submerged. Along with an elderly uncle they cut through the roof and were rescued. Through incredibly good luck they were able to get word to Tallahassee as to their whereabouts, eat-mo put in a 1,100 mile day in a car full of gas cans, and they are now in Tallahassee along with two brothers and their families. Eat_mo has gone from a bachelor sportsman to the head of a household of 10. He hopes to fish Sunday and bringing home a catch would be a good thing. Living in Soppchoppy like you do be sure to keep an ax in your attic.
