Hull repair

Post by catchin1 »

Idling out of a creek Fri. at Aucilla ran up on a rock, hit hard in the front. Got home, now have a quarter sized gouge into the hull. Not just gelcoat gone, looks like broken fiber glass. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
Brand new boat just bought in Feb.

Marinetex will fix it, but from what I have read it is epoxy based and it you ever wanted to or had the boat redone down the road...The patched area will have to be made even bigger to remove the Marinetex....That's what I have read......I would either buy a gelcoat patch kit and fix it myself or take to a shop that can fix it...https://www.minicraft.com/retail/gcrepairkit.htm

If this Marinetex is a type of epoxy, sounds like the way I want to go.Where do you find it?

Marine Tex isn't cheap stuff, but it definitely gets the job done.

I checked it out on the We$t Marine site. Do I want the 2 part epoxy or the putty?
