Sheepshead at Ochlocknee Bay Bridge ????

Does anybody know if the Ochlocknee Bay bridge holds sheeps head in the winter. I've caught plenty at the St George bridge in the past but don't really want to drive that far. It seems like the bridge and maybe the pillings under Andrews would hold some fish. Also isn't there a ramp at the base of the north west side of the bridge and if so what shape is it in?

I haven't been able to get much fishing in these last two months due to school, but Ive got some time off between Dec 16 and Jan 4th so I plan on making up some lost time. I have never fished much in the winter so I want to try some new things.

They was catching Sheepshead 3 miles up the river last week, so they should be around the bridge also

The boat ramp is not to bad, but you have to use it at times other than low tide

I have seen airboats have trouble loading up on a low tide

ok, thanks, I'll have to give it a try. Are there any other ramps near by, the closest ones I know about are shell point and then three rivers?

There is a ramp on the south end of the bridge...right there at the bridge. You will see the turn off, for the ramp a hundred yards or so after you come off the bridge heading south. I don't know what shape it is in. There is also a very good landing at mashysands. If you trun on the road right next to the BP and head all the way down you will see the landing. The Ochlocknee is much different in the winer than most of the other rivers. The others are mostly spring fed, which keeps them a little warmer. The ocklocknee comes from up north which makes it a lot colder. There are a couple of springs close to the bridge which might hold fish. I haven't fished the area during winter much but I have found, with some help from weavens some nice areas. For sheepies I'm sure you know this but if you don't, bring a paddle or flat head shovel with you. before fishing knock off a bunch of oysters off the pilings and you will have the sheepies comming to dinner. I have fished that area many times and my knowledge of the area is going to waste since my fishing buddie, who had a good boat moved away. I'll even show you the springs myself!!!

I'll keep that in mind. I've got to fix the trailer axle and then hopefully I'll be going quite a bit during christmas break. Last time we went my buddy backed the trailer off the side of the ramp at the lighthouse and then gunned it to get it over and the spindle is bent. Gonna try and put it in a press, the tire is wearing real bad just from driving it home.

T Smith, Forget the Press just Duck tape up the axle and tire and you'll be just fine. lol
