Well I headed out around 1pm and headed east to Stoney to see what was going on. So for 3 hours we fished around this place without a single bite or nothing . Then some other boat comes right by us and catches a very nice trout then heads on by . So it was getting a little late so we decided to stop by the oyster bars on our way in to see if anything was going on before we head out. So after about 15 mins BAM 1 trout, 1 Sail Cat, and 1 frog fish thingy and a few other nice bites. If I had found that area a few hours before im pretty sure I would of had a lot better report for you guys!
We caught all those fish on just a standard weighed leader and a shrimp with a red circle hook. All in all it was not to get the boat back in action and it was a decent day outside so not a total loss.
Yeah I tried throwing out a DOA shrimp for about 20 mins with no sucess at all. I then tried a top water just for the hell of it but it may still be a little cold for that top water to work at this time of the year. Next saturday I will most likely try the oyster bars, Pattys Island, and wakulla beach area and see what I cant find out.
A friend of mine catches trout all the time on a DOA under a float just stuck in a rod holder while drifting. Do you fish jigs under a cajun thunder? Most of my fish are caught that way. When the pinfish get here I don't buy bait at all. Just catch some pins for live bait and I fish artificials while dragging a live pin.
