Lake Monkey Business - 6/4/2006

Post by RonHarrison »

Abcarias (Steve) and I teamed up to hit Lake Monkey Business here in Killearn at daybreak. It was great getting to meet and chat with another yak fisherman here in Tallahassee!

We fished from daybreak until around 11:30A. The entire morning, the lake was like glass. It was absolutely gorgeous. The fish were boiling on the lake and the deer were in the backyards of the homes on the lake. It was postcard material!

I caught a nice catfish and a few small bass. Abcarias caught several bass and a good bream.

Here are a few pictures of the action and results. I had my nice digital camera with me, but reached for the cheap one I wouldn't cry over if dropped in the drink. The resolution on the cheap one is pretty low, so I apologize.

A great day and a new friend. It doesn't get any better...

Maybe Steve will pop in and tell about his two bass hookup. He had two bass hooked on one mini Rapala for a bit. Pretty wild!

Ron: You are a great host. I had a great experience yaking with you on your pond today. The two bass on one plug was a first for me. Wish we could have got that pic. Your foot propelled yak is impressive. You have it rigged out nicely. I look forward to future trips and meeting more yakers from the board. Lets try the salt next trip! Anybody out there want to join us for an early morning WB experience? How bout it Apalach?[/img]

Hey Folks,
Sounds like a fun trip. Would love to join up with you guys for a WB (or other) salt trip in the near future. At the moment, however, I'm tied up with my daughter's wedding preps. (Sat., the 10th in Gainesville). But after that, I'm game.

Both Steve and I are chomping at the bit to fish with ya, Apalach! In fact, it was a popular topic after our last trip. Expect lots of praise and buttering up soon!

In the meantime, I'm out of commision for the next two weeks. My wife's birthday is next weekend so that rules out sneaking off. The week/weekend after that, my wife's brother is getting married. The only saving grace is that the wedding is here in Tallahassee.

I should have enough "good will" built up from the wife's b-day, her brother's wedding (I have to be an usher. Does that mean I get to carry an orange flashlight like the ones at the theater?), and father's day to get a couple of trips in without much resistance towards the end of the month.

Let's plan on hitting the salt around then?!?! I say we target Redfish early and then move out a bit to start forumlating a plan for a Tarpon tangle! A Tallahassee (or nearby) Tarpon Tangle!!!

Can't wait till this b-day and wedding season is over!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Lake Diane recently had an algae bloom and had to be drawn down. Not all was lost as the all of the fish were removed and restocked in Lake Monkey Business.

Didn't know about a lake in Rose Hill. I'll be jumping on Google Earth now! Thanks!
