left sheilds @ 7:30

south to 30 ft

25 + short grouper 3 keepers to 30 in.

grouper were eating everything:
fish bites
ly's
cut bait
jigs
stretchs yellow, grenn and blue

hard to troll with stretches, couldn't keep the mackrel off.

headed in @ 1:30

oil or something was in the water at sheilds when we took the boat out. spent 2.5 hours cleaning the gunk off my boat after we got home.

this is the second time this has happened at sheilds
think i'll try shell point boat ramp next time!

That gunk you speak of is not just at Shields. I put in at the Fort all winter. Every time I took it out I had that mess on my boat and motor. I have a White Johnson, and I still don't have it off it. I would guess it comes from the docks up river. It's always been in the St. Marks. Used to be a lot worse when the barge traffic was 5 times more than it is now.
