Put in around 4:30 Sunday afternoon and headed east...Noticed thunderheads building to SE and stopped out around the second stake..Had figured fishing the falling water down around Grey Mare but decided I better wait and see what the weather was gonna do. Caught a couple pretty nice trout in about 6' of water..By then the thunder was beginning to grumble pretty good...Looked back toward Enconfina and saw my first waterspout! Before I got back to the lighthouse I'd seen six of em ! Plus I was soaking wet and had the hammer down..along with every other boat on the flats !
Met a longtime friend from Atlanta area and his grandson and we fished yesterday and today..Both days we started east of GM..Water slick as could be and grass everywhere...Fishing was slow yesterday, we caught a few trout and some junk fish..Not even many shorts..Went out to one of the reefs and lost some pinfish to the sharks..Came in early..
This morning went east again...Didn't see all of you that were spose to be in that area..One boat between Grey Mare and the bank was all...Again slick falling water and grass..Only keeper I caught was on a Chugbug, pitching it around the grass like bass fishing..Caught a couple shorts and a ladyfish on SWA's..
Bout nine we went out to about 8' where there were some more boats..Thunderheads started building about the time we stopped..Waves got pretty high too...About 10 saw another waterspout SW of the river mouth...way off but kept an eye on it...
Storm kept getting closer so we and everybody else headed towards the river...We stopped in about 4' and started a drift about 11..The bite turned on, for awhile it was a keeper almost every cast..Got a mess of fish in a hurry.. Found out what you can do with a 7M Mirrolure!
Friend had to leave early so we headed in around 12..Got soaked in process ! But, it was a good trip with an old friend and his grandson !
