Advice on rigging live shrimp

Post by Hooked »

Just looking for a bit of advise on rigging live shrimp for trout. What size and style of hook? Where is the best spot to hook the shrimp in order to keep it alive?

I like to use a 2/0 or 3/0 Khale style hook. If you are just drifting them hook them sideways under the horn or up through the bottom, careful not to hit the dark spot (the brain) and out beside the horn.

If you hook them on a jig head, bite their tail off and hook them through it from bottom top. Remember shrimp swim backwards.

Thanks Tom. Do you know if J.R.'s store on hwy.98 sells live shrimp? If so do you know the phone # to the store?
