Shimano Stradic vs. Daiwa Capricorn

Post by Littoral »

tackletour.com just put these two through the test (5/3) :o .
Actually listening to what other people say is worth the effort.

One quibble I might have with this test is the comparison of the Shimano 2500 size to the 2000 size Daiwa. If you look at both reels in the 2500 size the Daiwa weighs 1.1 ounces more but holds 50 more yards of 8 lb line than the Shimano. IMHO, and if all else were equal, this gives the Daiwa an edge for use as an inshore saltwater reel.

Both model lines take a big (+-1/4 lb) increase in weight when you move up to the 3500 or 4000 sizes.

I did not realize that the spare spools with the Capricorn are not the same as the "main" spool. Thats kind of aggravating, even if I hardly ever use the spare.

Thanks for pointing out the article, Littoral.
