fishing trout slooooooooow

Post by coopscatch »

Went to keaton beach area this past weekend, I have never had to fish as slow as we did to catch fish. Fishing soft baits under cajun thunders for trout was like watching a drip on a faucet. One pop and then leave it alone, the bite was like bait fish nibbling on our baits. Some of the trout were actually caught within 5' of the boat. We caught 12 keeper trout in the last half of the rising tide between 3-5 o'clock. Saying all of this, has anyone else had to fish this slow for trout.....curious.

Glad you caught some.

I've fished that slow many times. Throw it out there, pop it once, wait 10 seconds. You'll find out how LONG 10 seconds is.
What was I supposed to do today?

Good catch.

Yep. I learned how to fish a Catch 2000 at Keaton in the wintertime. Cast it. Let it sit 10 sec. quick snap of the wrist. Let it sit 10 sec. Its painful for someone wound tight like myself but it works.

A buddy of mine and his fishing partner caught 70 keeper trout at Keaton Friday. :o
GULP! free since 1970.
