Carrabelle, Two trip report

Post by qoutrage »

Had the pleasure of fishing on the Second Chance (nice rig) with Vance P, aka Second Chance, Saturday. We didn't hit a bonanza off the east end of Dog, but was a good day fishing, anyway. Picked up 2 keeper gags and 4 black bass. Mostly trolled and drifted over good bottom at 30-35'.
Conditions were as published at mostly 2-3', but smoothed in the PM.
S/C with a nice un.

Went again yesterday, with a friend here in Carrabelle. 'Decided to go a little further out- South and 7-8 miles west of the O tower, just to see, if anything was biting in the deeper water. We pretty much did the same as Sat.- trolled (no luck) and drifted over live bottom at 70-75'. Bait was cut LY's.
Forcast called for 2-3 and that's what was out there, but the 'mostly sunny' part was a bust with overcast sky til late afternoon. Once again, the water settled in the PM.
The catch amounted to 3 keeper gags and a sizeable mangrove snapper. We had one other gag, that bearly made 22" (too close to call for me), so 'decided to put it back. Likely a good decision, since we were checked in the river on return.

Here's a pic of the first two in the box.

Thanks for posting the report Q. Really enjoyed the trip with you and Doug. You baited your own hook, took your own fish off, helped clean the boat, and never questioned the orders given by the Captain :-D You are welcome back anytime
