$$$$$ Rocky Raccoon $$$$$ $pdate

Post by RodBow »

This morning around 3:30 there was some hellacious noise in my back yard. I found our little chow mix locked down on Rocky who matched her size and commitment to inflict injury to their opponent.

Here I am standing with a rake, in my drawers hoping that the short breaks in the engagement wouldn't convince Rocky that he should crawl up my a**. 20 minutes went by with me trying to block dog from rascal and constantly keeping one eye on the rascal... Finally, the varmit went over the fence to fight another day...

Being a family man, I called the county animal control to see what I needed to do to preserve household harmony and yet take adequate measures about the dreaded no mentionable possibility of the big R word.

Bottom line. 45 days impoundment at almost $10 a day!!!
Morals of the story: 1) kill the damn racoon so it can be tested (don't shoot it in the head), 2) convince the cop that discharging in city limits must have been the guy next door, 3) kill the damn racoon!

UPDATE
I received a ticket for $53 for not having current innoculation AND the mandatory impound went to 180 days @ $9.60/ day. My two girls and wife were brokenhearted! Dorothy was nice enough and knew she was the bad guy but everything she had to do was mandatory.... I told her, "ya, know you're just discouraging people from calling". She said if I knew how many rabid coons they run into - most people are better off calling than to suffer the consequences later on...

For today Chloe is in impound. Realistic priorities come into play and unless I find $1728.00 under my pillow, a call later on this week will bring this cruddy situation to an end... SUCKS BIG

Did you ask animal control about a trap? Sometimes they will loan you one for neusance animals. With any luck you could catch the same one and save some impound money.
You gonna talk, or you gonna fish?

Funny, I was just wondering about that info. Thanks RB. I've got at least one who feels my back porch is cozy. My little dog would last about 5 minutes with that thing...he's hefty.

Sorry about the unfortunate scene RodBow. Hope the pup is alright. My best advice is to buy a 22 that shoots shorts. No louder than clapping your hands and ready access to a coon skin cap.

The fact that ole "rocky" wasn't chas'n the dog around the yard would have demonstrated to me that the big R word wasn't a problem. Sorry you got caught up in all that mess. Sounds like a great source for County Revenues :smt011

Rodbow,

That's tragic buddy. Seems like there should be some testing available that would be cheaper than $1,700 of quarantine time. :smt011 Wishing you, your family and the pup the best.
