Anyone have an idea about this?

Post by Redbelly »

Ran my 40 4 stroke yammy up the flint and back. Been sitting a good month since the last run with it. At first it cranked and idles perfectly, but would konk out at 1/2 throttle. Ran a few miles like this and then it suddenly opened up and screamed down the river. Coming back I wanted to check the gas level with the high tech bamboo stick and it cut off when I went to neutral. Had trouble trying to crank it, and it idled ruff. But it screamed at full throttle.

Anybody have a clue about this? I have run seafoam in it today. :-?

Sounds like a carburator/fuel problem.

I agree with birddog.

Is the motor crebed or fuel injected?

Have you checked the fuel filter?

Have you checked the gas can vent?

Is there an air leak in a fuel line?
What was I supposed to do today?

I think carb/gas too. Although it was supposed to have been taken apart and cleaned and a new kit put in the carb a month ago.
Brand new fuel filter, gas vent wide open.
I plan on running it several afternoons this week at Iamonia with seafoam treatment.

If you just had carb work done, then I would definately take it back.

My first reaction after reading your first post made me think "gummed up carb".
