My way is simple and to some may say it to be stupid. I don't name them at all. I just use the waypoint #s. Some of my best places to fish is the #2, #31, #39, #113, #139, #141, #160, Oh yea the #5. I have plans this weekend so no fishing but plan to fish Monday. If you see me Monday I will be at the #117, it is about to turn on any day now. It has 3 feet of water at low tide and plenty of Rock Grass.

Yes. If I remember correctly, you bought the 172. It's in the book.

Much like TC, I store every trip in a separate file, and organize them by location, and name the file using the location and date I went fishing. I have separate folders for Panacea, Lanark, St. Marks, Aucillia, etc. For example, If I was going to Lanark today, after the trip, I'd store the file in the Lanark folder and name it 01092006.gdb. After each trip I download the tracks and waypoints into a file, and after they are in the PC, I clear the GPS of all tracks. If I am going to St Marks on Saturday, I upload a successful set of tracks from a previous trip into the GPS to I can use a similar rout to my fishing spots (avoiding nav hazards) and maximize my time fishing/catching while I'm out.

We were out Grouper trolling when BOTH reels started singing. We said "Oh Sh%t". Guess what it is named?


Got holes like big trout hole, stinky hole, big rock, good ledge.... you get the idea.

PS, I do have different GPS loads for shallow vs deep water. Keeps down the clutter.

Do you just keep all your waypoints stored in your conputer and when you head to St. Joe Bay for instance, you just download the waypoints and routes for that area?

That is correct. In fact I loaded my Carrabelle file this afternoon. Keeps me from having to scroll through 874 waypoints every place I go. It also narrows down the number of saved tracks.

My way is a lot simpler. Just ride around until you smell fish. Then stop. Then fish.

I was walking by the ladies room at Wal-Mart the other day and I did not have a fishing rod or a GPS. I wonder if that room had some lunkers in it

I usually make a name that I associate with that spot. If you will send me all your waypoints, I'll see what comes to mind and get back with you for the proper names
