It all boils down to courtesy and respect. There's way too little of both in the world today.

So the answer is for you "FL" boys should take us "GA" boys fishing and show us where all these "Honey Holes" is ya'll got stashed away. Give us some of those great numbers ya'll don't talk about, so we will know where to stay away from and try to avoid bothering you fellers. If you tell us where to avoid we might not stumble up on ya'll by igonorance.

Sorry boys, I fold! My wife ain't been able to get me off the pond in thirty years. Ya'll shore ain't gona fool me with this one. She probly put ya'll up to bet with me didn't she?
When do I want to go? Every waking minute. I've got a small boat that I don't trust with a small fuel tank. so I'm limited. I wouldn't impose by piling up in someone elses boat. Just could use a little info on running the Enconfina with mine.

CS,
I'll take you to econfina although I don't run the channel by the tripod like the locals do. :o Scares the heck outta me. Does this debate come up annually? I agree with the ones who said it's courtesy. Upbringing is key. I grew up here in Ga. and been fishing down in Fla. all my life. Started with my granddaddy. He had his spots marked in his head. If there was someone at or remotely close to a place we were headed, well we'd just go somewhere there wasn't anybody. When I asked him if we were in a good place, he'd say, "You see all those boats running around out there?" "As long as you see them running back and forth, we're in one of the best places we could be." Alot of truth in that. Doesn't matter if I'm from Ga. or Fla. or anywhere else. If I've been thinking about a spot all week and I finally arrive to find someone at it or near it, I'm going somewhere else........unless it's a drift thing. I don't see anything wrong with drifting near another boat. Obviously the Fla. bunch don't either because it happens on any given day. Courtesy! We're all there to catch some fish and forget about whatever else is going on in our lives for just a few hours. I don't wanna make a two hour run just to butt heads with someone. Not gonna do it!

Upbringing

Post by jcflats »

Same here Brother!! Wouldn't it be great to not have "GA" or "FL" on our boats and treat everyone with the same respect. It all boils down to upbringing. Treat me with respect and break bread at my table anytime!

"Why can't we just all get along" seriously, you did say it right. We are all in this fishing thing together.
I can flip flop from "GA" to "FL" in a heartbeat. I lived with a mullet fisherman on the Aucilla river most of the time till I was 15 years old. Where the lower boat ramp is, is where my grandfathers home and bait, and Ice house was. My uncle Joe Brown owns and lives in the house at Mandalay now. I also lived at the Rise for a while. Then I moved to St. Marks. I lived with Miss Joy Brown, of Bo Lynns Gro. until I joined the Marine Corps. I know the story from both sides. Name the day for that trip to enconfina. I'm ready to go.

Well, I just ain't real dadgum motivated about the Econfina right now. I am, however, thinking real hard about going out to some deeper water to catch some rock bass. To heck with the trout! My wife loves for me to bring back a mess of rock bass. I mean loves it! Do I have to splain any further?? I need some rock bass! Name a day. I'm pretty flexible.
