Thanks for the info Silver King. I'd love to get one of those biggun's on fly. My strategy works, but only for bottom fish. However, if I happened upon a school of them tearing up the surface, I think I could work out a strategy for that too.
Oh, and bait was not mullet. Anyone else care to take a guess?

Shrimp were on board for the first trip, however we didn't catch anything with them, so they didn't even make it aboard the second trip.

I'm really happy to see a photo of a 42. That was the length of my biggest Redfish and I didn't have camera. I somehow caught it at DI Shoal on a little Penn 4200 using a spec rig fishing for Spanish. We had to chase it for 45 minutes.
I think you were using cut bait.

Nope, none of those either. Man, I never realized that the bait I was using was not an obvious choice for reds. Maybe that's why I've been having more success than the other people I see fishing out there. Maybe I should hang on to this secret.
