Like mono, but supposed to be more abrasion resistant and better refraction qualities so the fish can't see it. I think mostly used as leader material. I've heard of people using a whole spool of it; but, it seems awful stiff for that.Ty one on wrote:I hate to quote myself. I change my mono about every 4 to 6 months. Will the Flourocarbon last longer? If so what is the cost compared to mono and will it perform as well as mono on a baitcaster.

Don't know that I would go to a whole spool of fluorocarbon. It's more expensive than mono. I've never used it other than as a leader and I usually use 17-20lb test. Stuff is pretty stiff. Anybody tried a whole spool??

Fluorocarbon is the same density as water and is very clear...for light line, clear water situations it is excellent....for topwater it is not that great because it sinks quicker than mono, which is considered by some to degrade your topwater performance.
I have used Seaguar leader material for a few years, I recently tried some of the Yo zuri hybrid line as a cheaper leader material, it's not as shock resistant...I have to check the areas around my swivels, it will start to break down after a couple of fish or 100 or so casts.

When it gets older, faded and relaxed its in its prime. It should still breaking at 2X test strength. I back it off one reel and onto another sometimes.
I have tried and tested just about every braid made (in salt and freshwater) and haven't found anything to beat Power Pro.
The colour fading has no relevance to its performance.
