A long rod makes it easier to cast and control a float on light tackle, especially in moving water.
With freshwater bottom fishing, I will often have my bait up to 100 yards into the lake. I need long rods to cast that far and pick up the line efficiently, on the strike.

Don,t forget, we fish from the banks, not from boats.
Thats where the difference starts.

Ken you were right for kicking yourself about the All Star rods. Fresh or salt they are the best rods I've used. I have four 6'6'' rods that were left over from my bass tournament days, they are still in great shape after four years in salt water. The eyelets have not corroded, the cork handles are in good shape, and they are just as straight as they were the day I bought them. Very sensitive for grubs or flexable enough to "walk the dog" with a top water. I also have a few Quantum Blue Runners. They are fair for saltwater and only cost about $40.00.

I too have a lot of rods I need to gather them up and count them.......LOL so I can understand you having the amout that you have Cranfield.....infact trying to talk Cindy into buying two trolling rods for my dirthday......she only has 6 days to do so and she hasen't with asked about the rods I want so it isen't looking to good right now but I still have hope...... :o
