BAD BEHAVIOR wrote:He said it also has to do with the way it was broken in. I didnt run WOT until I had 20 hours on it. I did run it in blasts but never more than a few seconds. He said that allowed really tight seals so my motor was probably running more efficent than one that was not broken in as gingerly. 5700 rpm should be the peak, not 3/4 .
Come on now Jay. You ain't believeing this BS are you?
Not really but buying the prop from these guys comes with all their technical jargon(bs) so I might as well take their insight as well. Hell, if I listen to folks like CT, I might as well listen to the guys there !

Before you change props, make sure that you run it at least once with a full fishing load "take into account # of people, ice, drinks, full tank ...." and see how it performs. I can not run full throttle on mine by myself "it will over rev" but if I put another 200+ pound person and the extra ice and drinks on board, it will barely get to 6k at WOT

What a mess wrote:Most motors @ wot should run 5500 rpm maybe 5700 at the most this the wrong size wheel for your boat for sure.
What does the Mfg. or owners man. say?
MFG recommends 5700 max rpm. Talked with Powertech again this pm and they seem to think I need to drop the motor down an inch or two from the way its mounted. (Thanks Tin Can, they agree with you) I told them I wanted to keep the clearance I had so they are designing a prop to match my motor clearance and set up. This is really a good company, I told them if there was any extra cost Id gladly pay for being a pain in the arse, and they said they appreciated the chance to set up a boat different than they ever had before. They still believe they can get 62-65 mph out of my boat. Ill believe it when I see it. I think they are building a prop with a 1 1/2 more pitch so it woould be a 21.5 pitch. theyre also increasing the rake and cup. We'll make a decision tomorrow. Ill keep ya'll tuned in.
