Tell you what Luke....... We'll agree to disagree on this.
I like to read reports. With Inshore reports I couldn't care less where people put in. I'm looking for techniques/tides/baits etc.... What catches you fish @ St. Marks will help me catch fish just about anywhere I go. I like to see pix of buddies and forum members with fish in their hands with big happy smiles on their faces and I don't give them 20 questions about where they were. If they want me to know they'll ask me to go fishing with them.

In all seriousness if you're not going to say where you were fishing why do you post a 'report'? Just to get patted on the back online?

I could really care less where anyone caught their fish!! I just enjoy reading the reports and seeing "when there's pics" the enjoyment that folks are getting from fishing "especially the kids" If a person don't want to tell you where they fished, I think that is their decision and not anyone else "including the operator of the site it's posted on" :o I can understand that it's frustrating to some folks, not knowing where they fished :smt012 TUFF TOOTIE :-D Sometimes when I post it's to give info  and sometimes it's just to brag :-D live with it, that is the way it will be whether you like it or not

NOW :-D I will say that ya'll done a heck-of-a job of schooling :smt004 them Reds  looks like everyone had a great time

Get away with what, there are no rules for what you post other than keeping it clean and various other rules that do not apply to this subject.

Let me see, Barhopr told of a fishing trip and didn't state where he was....You stated your opinion on a topic unrelated to this post and nobody asked...Looks like a wash to me...If you would like to debate proper protocol and rules of posting start it in an Off Topic post.

Why waste the time to post a 'report.'? Without at least the name of the ramp or body of water a user fished I do not understand the need for a thread but I assume its an ego booster.

To my knowledge there exists no other fishing site that would let users get away with that - because its a cheesy form of self-satisfaction and a waste of time.

In the past here, several posters on this board have lied about where they fished or just didn't say. These members should have saved their pictures, shared them among their buddies or put their pictures in "Fishing" and get patted on the back over there.

The fact that people don't call them out on it every time doesn't mean they aren't reading and rolling their eyes. When I read that kind of stuff, I for one, lose a ton of respect for the poster.

If you fish a secret or special spot - and you did good but don't want to share specifics - just don't create a thread about it. Its not that hard. Email your pics to your friends or something. But IMHO members shouldn't be allowed to cloud a fishing reports board because they like to see their pictures on the internet while they expect others to be private investigators in figuring out where they fished.

EDIT: Always dropping emoticons where I didn't want them.

Yeah I would love to fish "Location X" - let me know. Long drive for me though. :D

I am gonna say it and I don't give a crap who doesn't like it...

Posts like this are the reason people LEAVE sites.....
People with NO sense of humor and a total lack of understanding of what fun is....

Atticus, How about YOU sending me EVERYONE of YOUR honeyholes on a chart....Fishing is about finding your OWN sweet spots.

Chill out man.

Oh, and Barhopr, thanks for the report

For every person who is registered on this site, there are 20 who are reading it and will never post at all. I have no problems with folks not telling where they caught fish. It's like BH said, tides, technique, etc is what catches fish, and generally speaking location has very little to do with it.

Now on the same token, a quick pm asking for additional info would probably be welcomed. Just not to be posted on the board.

I've posted several reports saying "secret spot", or whatever. Generally people I know will ask me and I will tell them exactly where to go and what to do. That way if I go back there won't be 20 boats in the spot, just the 1 or 2 I told.

I know for me, I learn more on my own than I will from any website. Even one as great as this one. :-D
