I just read somewhere else that Daiwa is changing the Capricorn design for 2004 and are dumping the 2003 models at fire sale prices. Kind of annoying for those of us who purchased one at full price less than six months ago. BUT it does make me think there must be a design problem.

Today makes two weeks that I sent my reels back to Daiwa in California. Hope to get some response soon.

I would contact them and point out the 2003 model "dumping" thats going on.
Insist on replacement reels that are the 2004 model.
You may get lucky.

I "insisted" on getting my money back. I am curious as to what their response will be.

They were SWEET reels when they were new. If the new and improved bearings gives them a reasonable life expectancy I would certainly be happy with them.

This is an interesting review....

http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshootoutcapstrad.shtm

It reckons the Capricorn is superior to the Stradic.
Load of rubbish........obviously. :P
