I keep a few pieces of twisted pair from a cat 5 cable in my boat to clear the pee stream when needed.

Well...I finally took the time to pull the lower unit and check the impeller. Took all of 10 minutes.

The impeller was totally destroyed. No vanes left. They just don't build 'em like they used to.
Got a complete rebuild kit from Advantage Marine on the NFGFC discount.
I be catfishin' soon.

It never ran hot on you? I have noticed that these Honda water pumps are nowhere near as good as a Yamaha.

JT, At your age you can expect a slow down with the plumbing.
It's OK and

while you're not as good as you once was... well just leave it that!

I posted 16 days ago on this thread about my impeller. After 5 orders, I think I finally have the right impeller for it. They must not have made too many 1999 5hp johnsons. I thought I was gonna have to get the pocket knife out and cut it to fit.
