You are talking about working out again and lifting weights for exercise.I recall a few weeks back you made a coment thet your hired help was waxing BB. That would have been a nice workout!

I can tell you from much experience that waxing boats is a good way to burn calories and make a few nickels at the same time

Goog luck BB! We have been doing a biggest loser competition at work and it helps having support from others. I don't know if you drink soda's but Mook's Fishing Widow is right, that is one of the best things to do cut any type of carbonated beverage, caffine, or sugar. I really like using Splenda, I don't even by real sugar any more.

I did something not too smart tonight. I got off wok came home, feeling all good because Ive done really good on my diet today. I hit the treadmill this morning for 25 minutes and felt good all day. I decided I needed to work out tonight so I went out to my gym. I started with benchpress. I decided Id step it up a bit and go heavier tonight. I got to my four rep set and decided I should jump to 315lbs as good as I was feeling. I got three and a half. Had to dump the weight and I now have a deep bruise across my sternum. Hurts like hell. Guess i done got weak in my old age. I guess benchpress is out for a few days, oh well, the treadmill is probably better for me anyway. Oh and RCG, I m a diet pepsi freak but Im trying to wein myself from them.

BB, to get that lean and mean look stay away from low reps and big weights. The big weights might help with the mean part but not as much with the lean

Seriously, the big weights will help you bulk up with muscle but for getting lean the best route is high reps and lighter weights as they will help give definition and tone, along with weight loss but without as much bulk buildup.
Learned the hard way myself on this one... running is my hobby and when chasing 125 pound MALE Kenyans is your sport of choice, even weighing in at 185 puts you at a SEVERE disadvantage, and I'm 6'3" at that so I have to watch every pound and have learned that when it comes to weight bearing exercise, much better off to lift a little for a ton of reps until you can't lift anymore versus trying to gorilla lift one or two times...
One other tip to share, I do eat tons of protein and at times have avoided carbs to keep my weight down. Only problem is when trying to run, I found the tanks felt low without some carbs. Last year or so I started eating more carbs and it's given me more energy... secret has been to avoid the SIMPLE surgars, and to only eat complex carbs (whole grains, etc...). Relatively easy to do with the labels on foods today... take slow cook oatmeal for example -- package will read 27 total carbs but take a look at the breakdown of carbs and it has 4 grams of fiber (tough to digest, helps you empty, and won't put much weight on you) but only has 1 single gram of simple sugar. Can't recall which fitness guru says it, but one of them calls simple sugars the devil

From my personal experiences, I wouldn't argue too much as whenever I give in to the sweet tooth, I find it stores quite easily
Good luck on the "new and improved" project!

I know it's hard RCB is a addict, but if you can it will help. I agree with BBG lighter weight more reps lots of cardio makes you lose weight and get FIRM. Be careful with that heavy weight especially without a spotter (h.s. girls weight lifting team member, long story don't ask

). Have a happy, healthy, safe week. You can do it!

Dang Sube, he got you there!! BBG, thanks for the info. I have been trying to stick with the low weight high reps routine . On bench press I did 135 for 3 sets of 20 reps and 185 for 3 sets of fifteen. Total burn out on bench. Add dumbbell inclines for high reps and dumbbell butterfly presses for high reps and my chest was spent. Triceps, close grip bench 3x15,185lbs; skull crushers 4x15 curl bar w/ 35lbs on each end, dips 3sets as many as possible 25-30 each set. Biceps straight bar curls, curl bar curls, dumbbell curls. 3x15 on each. Shoulders , military press, dumbell forward and out lifts. Anybody know an effective way to work back of the shoulder?? Ive tried and I dont know of an excercise. Also, hit the treadmill for 35 miutes last night. My date got there at 8:30 and had to watch my fat behind sweatin out the last ten minutes. Shes a sweet girl that never had to worry about weight (5'3 110 lbs

). She was real understanding though. She just enjoyed the CMT awards while I finished up.
