I take back what I said about the 1/8" starboard. It will work for your situation as long as you leave the original fiberglass console behind it. You are basically looking for a trim/accent piece. I do hold my original statement of don't use plexiglass. We have that on the key west and every screw hole has stress cracks.

Thanks guys, 1/8" starboard it is. Just have my fingers crossed now that the VHF and CD Player will fit on the console so that I can skip the shelf.

Well the console is too small above the steering wheel for them there. I guess I will continue with the shelf.

My console being the same size as the top picture, and me wanting to skip the shelf, as I would have more room. I want to flush mount the stereo above the steering wheel, and turn the VHF sideways amd flush mount it to the left of the console. I can't see why/how this would hurt anything, but maybe someone knows something I don't?

I also guess I will be buying a new Standard Horizon Quest, as I found a good deal on one, and I can't get an answer back from SH about a flush mount for my old one.

Ok well, they aren't going to mount IN the console without making it weak in certain places, tight fit.

So I am going to build the flush mount shelf. Sheesh.

Anybody in the Tally area carry Marine Plywood? Screw Starboard, that stuff is HIGH!

Don't know about Marine PLywood but if your going to end up using plywood, you might just use a decent grade and put lots of resin on it. Marine Plywood will be expensive also. Tom Keels mentioned in an earlier post about Marine Liquidators in Perry. I know that would be a trip for you but they do carry a lot of different sizes of starboard that has been salvaged from different sources. Haven't bought any recently but they sell it by the lb and it's always been considerably cheaper than West Marine or some other place for Brand New stuff. There's nothing wrong with the board from Marine Liquidators it's just cheaper. I have a few pieces laying around but nothing that would give you what you need.
