This lecture brought to you by the man who brings a professional guide to the tournaments and post more skunked goat reports than anyone else on this siteJumptrout51 wrote:It has more to do with how you fish. Not where you fish. If you CAN fish and YOU can read structure, you will catch fish anywhere.
Some people feel comfortable in certain areas because they can catch fish in those areas. They cannot catch fish in unfamiliar areas because they are what I call weekend fishermen.
If you are a real fisherman you can take your skills on the road and catch fish anywhere. It does not mean on a given day you will catch. It means on a given day you probably should catch.
Baits are the same way, a confidence bait catches more fish, regardless of where you fish.
The Captain Mikes tube bait caught good fish for me because, as soon as I saw it, I believed I would catch good fish with it.
I did.
Back to the structure thing. Different areas provide different types of structure. It may be rocks, bars, dropoffs', sand holes, shell bottom, sand, mud, etc. etc. Just because fish hold to a certain type of structure in one area does not mean they will hold to that type structure in another. Mostly because that type structure may not be there.
The type structure you feel comfortable fishing may not exist in another area.
If you strive to become a better fisherman in all areas, you will become a better fisherman in all areas.
