well at least when you moved you got some reds. a couple weekends ago we had airboats getting pretty close to us in the canoe but it was real foggy so i figured they just couldnt see. havent been out in a while trying to this weekend.

I was down at the Aucilla back in the good old days when the trout and reds came in the river in the winter..and down on one of the best sheephead holes I know....right before you get to the island. The trout were biting almost everycast. My preacher and I were off to the side where the fish were being caught...but close enough where we were getting our share (on M/L) It was grand. The boat in the middle of the river with 2 men in it were really catching them...but they had a rifle standing up in the boat...you could see it. A boat started coming up on them from the south ....and they warned him off and said, "we'll blow you out of the river if you come any closer" Needless to say the guy left..pronto.
Getting shot isn't worth any fishing hole ....like the incident at Jacksonville where a guy stabbed to death a mullet fisherman....who had got his spot and wouldn't leave. The first guy is dead...and the 2nd guy is in prison for life...all because of a fising spot.

Sorry you couldn't keep any fish, but at least you were there catching something. Too bad about the jerks in the other boat. I still like the TinCan idea best! Hee!Hee!!

I know most of you Georgia Crackers are good and decent folks who are considerate of other fishermen, but there are many who have garnered a well deserved reputation among us locals for doing just what has been described here. To be fair, these days it could be anyone. I think poor fishing etiquette is merely an extension of societies systemic selfish "Me" syndrome. In my younger days, bad things would happen to those who horned in on my personal space (can't say too much, don't want to incriminate myself). Today, thanks to God's grace, most of the time I'm able to refrain from being vengeful. Stupid people and their stupid behavior are not worth losing one's peace over.

We had a similar incident one afternoon at Aucilla also involving a mullet/crab boat. This a-hole thought he owned the River and ran right up on us and by us. We had 3 CT's floating and this prick got all 3 in his prop. Luckily, the drags were all loose and he spooled the line off all 3. There is still a curse-laiden tapestry hanging over that part of the river much like the scene in "Christmas Story" with Ralphie's dad and the furnace
