Chalk,

Is this a Yamaha 115 $-stroke? If it is, relax - it's not serious. I have a 2002 Yamaha F115 4-stroke that's done the same thing several times. Have done the research and I'll post back what problem is. Another buddy with the same exact engine had the same problem. I've always gotten mine started by using the cold start. Will reply back with the name of the part ny buddy replaced. However, they told me at the Yamaha dealer here my remedy works fine.

The part is a Neutral Safety Switch (~$40). My friend put one on his motor but I just use my remedy (cold start). My motor has only done it about 3X. BTW, be sure to add Marine Formula Stabil anytime you gas up. That will take care of the ethanol issues. The fuel filter I use is a Racor but I'm not sure of the #. My Yamaha dealer replces it for me at my annual service.

BB,

Do you have a fuel/water separator filter on your boat. They are usually located in bilge area. The filter should be changed annually but checked frequently during year; any water in the bowl should be emptied.

Thanks for the advice. Ill look at it and see. I know it has a seperator, I ve never maintained it but I know it has one!+
