I hunt the GA side every January for a week... Mid Week is the best. Opening Day its a ZOO....
Ive hunted weekends and had guys almost run me over trying to get to "their spot"
Had guys set up 50 yards from me. I hate it there on the weekends.

Even if you are not over run you really have to know where you are going and where the birds want to be.
Weather is the big determining factor... That lake is BIG and can get ROUGH.
Wind and waves will make the birds do funny things.

Some back waters and coves are MONEY on a rough day- others are dead.

Big Interesting lake...

I used to hunt the lake a lot. But the last few years the hunters outnumbered the ducks. I have seen unbelievable behavior from other hunters(if you can call them that). My advice would be to get off the main body of the lake that will get you away from most of the idiots. But you will need a mud moter to do it. If you scout enough small holes you can find good shooting. Sometimes you can run the birds out and set up real quick then get them as they come back in. :-D

I used to wait till around 8 am to get there, after it started getting crowded. I would set up and wait for all the guys to start going for breakfast around 9ish. Sometimes that produced a duck or two.
Then I would run and gun the rest of the day. I had a godevil and would flush them and pull right in the reeds, no dekes. Sometimes they would retun before i got my gun out and ready to shoot. It was fun, and not so hard to do as the 3 am shuffle.
Now I fish during duck season.
