Last gas station on left going out of Perry towards Keaton Beach (BP) still has non Ethanol. They have a sign out side advertising "Boat motor gas, Non-Ethanol" out by the road.

Well it is official the BP stations are no longer safe. They will be changing over with everyone else no later than the 1st of May 2010. From what I understand the marinas will still carry conventional, but they will have to change suppliers.

Thanks for the update Jeremy.

I typed this up a second ago but I guess I got timed out. So here goes again. I just got my boat back from having clogged injectors. I spent a good amount of time on the phone with Yamaha going over the do's and don'ts regarding ethanol. I think at this point we all understand that we need to keep the tank full, us stabilizer and try to avoid stations that carry ethanol.

Up until this point I thought that it took time for the injectors to get clogged. Turns out this is not the case. Yamaha told me that this can happen with just one bad tank of gas. One of the main things to watch out for is stations that have just recently refilled their tanks. The fuel in tanks that have recently been refueld are naturally stirred up. Setiment that was in the bottom of the tank is now floating around. This setiment, being that it is under ground, is cold and can make it's way through all you filters and then expand once heated up in the engine thus clogging the injectors.

This is not something that is covered under any warranty. Yamaha basically said that all you can do is cross you fingers if you have to buy ethanol suplimented fuel. I just wanted to post what I heard so that you will know to be SUPER vigilant when choosing where to fill up. It isn't a cheap fix by any means. Stick with Ethanol free stations if you can, but if you can't, then it may be worth asking the gas station workers the last time their tanks were filled. No, I don't know a safe time frame, wish I did. :smt009

Jeremy, please update us if you find out any more info.

Prenn the owner Home town BP in Carrabelle has ethanol in the Reg, and Mid grade. I ask him to check the premium, I also spoke to the owner of Jack's BP in T'ville and the premium is the only gas W/O ethanol. So here is my $.02 worth. If you top off your tank from a trip (Like i did today) with 30 gallons X the $.30 more for premium with no ethanol = $9.00 more but, no water, fuel line, fuel tank, fuel filter problems and all the other crap that goes along with the corn wiskey they mix with the gas. I still add Sea Foam every trip just to be on the safe side. As the old saying goes "Pay now or Pay later"

Will let you know when I know buddy.

macdaddy, be careful... 93 octane is not a top seller so the stores may not have needed any super lately. I can say in the near future they will have ethanol in all grades of gasoline. Make sure you check next time before you fill up.

I had been wondering about my gas mileage lately.

I was getting 18.2 in my Suburban while pulling my boat.

Now I am getting barely 16.

A friend mentioned the other day about better mileage in his truck with E free gas.

Not only is E bad for your boat motor, you get less mileage in your tow vehicle.

The boat is also harder to start with E gas.

The car and the boat are tuned and maintained to the max.

Do any of you have thoughts on this government invasion to our fuel quality?

IF ONE IS NOT GETTING AS GOOD MILEAGE WITH THE E GAS AND YOU HAVE TO USE MORE FUEL TO GET FROM POINT A TO POINT B WHAT'S THE POINT

JT I dont think Ethanol puts out the same BTU's as straight gas. I have the same problem on the gas mileage. Funny how you fill up with fuel blended @ 10% and your mileage drops by that amount too.
