antoni, I don't fish Panacea much, but have done so a few time and there is plenty to fish in the area. You must be on the computer to be posting this question and maybe this is just a given for me since I do it for a living, but don't you use Google Earth to scout out an area?? You can see tons of oyster bars and grass flats in the Panacea area from this and other imagery sites! Not to mention a good chart available at any tackle shop in the big bend/NW will show you most productive fishing areas! I dont want to seem mean or redundant since it has been mentioned, but get a chart and go look!

i sort of forgot about google earth. fired it up last night and spent a couple hours researching the area.
I find not only the oyster reefs but the wilderness back country salt marsh is quite impressive!! as a south florida native i can truly appreciate the forgotten coast.
BTW, how is the salt marsh fishing this time of the year? I tend to stick to the flats and oyster bars but i'd like to get into some marsh fishing. the few times i've ventured into the marsh i've only found big mullet mudding

maybe i was fishing the wrong time of the year? I was reading an article last night about hunting big flounder in the marsh!. i mean they were getting 5lb flatties in there! Are the flounder still in deep water cuts? Are they moving back into the shallow bays and marsh yet? I didn't even know flounder were in the marsh. should i fish around the outside edges of the marsh or should i go deeper in the the marsh creeks, channels and lagoons when they flood?

You should come to the NFGFC meeting tomorrow night and also fish the NFGFC tournament on Saturday out of Jerrys Bait and Tackle.
The guest speaker is Captain Randy Peart. He will be talking on all the best places to fish in our area.
